TerpSys participates in the 2007 Tour de Canal
(Rockville, Maryland) - TerpSys participated in the 2007 Tour de Canal by having 64 riders, 20 volunteers supporting the TerpSys-sponsored Carderock rest stop, and raised almost $35,000 dollars. By doing so, Team Turtle (TerpSys' community service team composed of staff, family members, and friends) was the #1 team as far as ridership and the #1 team as far as fundraising. The event raised over $200,000 to support the Alzheimer's Association - National Capital Area.
"I have been involved in the Alzheimer's Association Tour de Canal with TerpSys since 2004 and each year we have become more passionate about the cause. I'll never forget arriving at the White's Ferry rest stop and being greeted by an elderly volunteer. He gave me a big, hearty hug and thanked me and my Team Turtle teammates for what we were doing. He told me his wife of many years passed away from Alzheimer's disease. It was a very humbling moment and one of many memories over the years that has made the Tour de Canal such a special event. We all know Alzheimer's disease has a profound impact on a countless number of people, but the Tour de Canal has a profound and positive impact on everyone involved in the event and well beyond."
