Application Design
We recognize that the decision to build a software system from the ground up is first and foremost an investment in the success of your business. To ensure success of a custom system, we offer a sequence of three Application Design related activities that focus on short-cycle results and demonstrate success quickly:
- Requirements Analysis and Definition
We work with you to understand the system requirements and define what information needs to be tracked and what workflows need to be supported. If a Business Process Review has been conducted the requirements definition will be a shorter cycle building on the outcomes of that review. We look at requirements with a user centered focus to ensure that your team is given the tools it needs to be more effective. - Information Architecture
Once the requirements are clearly defined, we examine the relationships in the information that your organization is looking to capture and how that information will be used. Understanding these data structures, connections and dependencies prepares us to design the database that will store your information as well as the flow of user interfaces with which your team will interact. - User Interface Design
We start with a simple, aesthetically pleasing shell and then specify the layout and content for each user interface unique to your system. We design an intuitive software application and work with your team to verify that the solution addresses their highest priority needs and makes sense in the context of their daily work.
TerpSys seeks to delight our customers with custom systems created to directly support their needs and goals. To ensure success of system design projects, we keep the focus small, working in quick definition and design cycles, and involve your team when it is meaningful and productive.
Application Design projects typically take between 4 and 10 weeks depending on the size of the system. Past projects include:
- A opportunity management and analysis tool for a low-income housing tax syndicator
- An executive dashboard displaying government grants with maps and charts
- A contract management tool for a national literacy organization
